About the conference
The ANZSOC Conference is a key crime and criminal justice research forum in Australia. The 2008 conference program will include keynote plenary sessions, moderated panel sessions and a number of concurrent sessions in which abstract papers will be presented. The conference will run from 26 - 28 November, 2008.
Building on the success of previous events, it is expected that 350 - 450 delegates from around Australia and the world will attend. These will comprise of criminological practitioners, academics, policymakers, students and researchers.
The theme for this year's conference is Criminology: linking theory, policy and practice, which will be woven through a range of sub topics including Indigenous issues, women and the criminal justice system (including questions of human rights and trafficking), financial and technology-enabled crime (particularly focussing on global developments in crime control and regulation), and victimology.
Venue
The ANZSOC conference will be held at the National Convention Centre Canberra. The National Convention Centre is conveniently located in the city centre and is surrounded by a number of accommodation options.

Call for abstracts
The call for abstracts for the 21st Annual ANZSOC conference is now open.
Abstracts are invited for papers exploring the broad spectrum of current, emerging or future trends in crime and justice research as seen through the theoretical, policy or practical perspectives. This spectrum could include but is not limited to, research involving Indigenous issues, women and the criminal justice system (including questions on human rights and trafficking), financial and technology enabled crime (particularly focussing on global developments in crime control and regulation), and victimology. Abstract presenters will be allocated 20 minutes within the program to present papers based on the submitted abstracts.
Further information on the call for abstracts can be found by downloading the Call for abstracts brochure. Those who wish to submit an abstract for consideration must do so by completing the abstract submission form. The completed form must be received by Conference Solutions by 5pm on 20 June, 2008.
